Comparing Suistanable Tourism Development : Between Dubai and Vietnam

Suistanable Tourism Development
When the first time we hear about suistanabale tourism development, in our mind, we must think about suistaning. But which part of suistaning is the famous question around us. The closer meaning about suistaining is take the responbility and also balancing. And, if its enough? Not at all, so we must take a look what is the truly meaning about suistanabale tourism development. The World Tourism Organization defines that suistanable tourism development as tourism which lead to management of all resources in such a way that economic, social and aesthetic needs can be filled while maintaining cultural integrity, essentials ecological processes, biological diversity and life support systems. These defines means that suistanable touris development have four important pillar, there are:
1. Economic suistanability
Economic suistanability means that a few part from all of the business and economic sector must be allocated for adopt suistanability principles. There are a lot of way to create suistanability principles, such as assist in training, ethical marketing and product development. This way is trying to create an efisien income.
2. Echological suistanability
Ecological suistanability guide us to create tourism development that protect of essential ecological processes, biological diversity and biological resources. All we have to do are make the plan of ecological suistanability and make sure that the tourism at all levels know and do the rule. The plan must be consider the aspect about tourism policies too. And don’t forget to sounding the plan, make sure that the tourists make their contributor to protect ecological around them too. For the example is in the national park, the management must identify acceptable behavior among tourists and promote responsible tourism behavior in ecological suistanability.
3. Cultural Suistanability
Cultural suistanability persue people to put their attention on cultural and history tourism. This aspect try to make the education and training program to improve and manage heritage and natural resources be more estabilished. there are a lot of things that we can do to make this aspect real. Such as conserve cultural diversity, respect land and property rights of traditional inhabitants, guarantee to protection nature and cultural. Sounding this program is important things to do. First, The Government must educate tourism industry about desirable and acceptable behavior then educate tourists about desirable and acceptable behavior, too.
4. Local Suistanability
The idea of local suitanability is designed program for local communities to be more growing and realizing the tourism object. The local community have an absolute power in maintaining over tourism development. They have to manage the tourism business, so it can be minimize negative effects on local communities and contribute positively to them. Local suistanability also try to improve local human resource capacity and provide financial incentivies to enter tourism.
The conclusions of this concepts is focus on longer-term and more cautious approach to development to ensure that our children can enjoy a quality life. And also try to balancing tourism and the environment, it means that the tourism could not damage the environment. Although sustainable tourism development not an easy program, also have a lot of barrier but all of the participant including tourism industry and tourist, make sure that they can work together to realize this program.
And now, I want to try comparing the sustainable tourism development program between Dubai and Vietnam.

Dubai
Dubai located on Uni Emirat Arab. This city located surrounded by sea and uniquely desert. Dubai also called Shopping Capital of Middle East. Before became one of the most wanted tourism place in Middle East, Dubai just an anchorage city. But it was change on 1980 – 1990, The Government made new regulation and want to make Dubai to be one of most wanted tourism place in Middle East. Because of that purpose, The Government have a routine investment for Dubai’s tourism infrastructure . The Government also build new tourism department on 1997, called Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing. This department concentrate to promote Dubai’s tourism with their strategic international tourism program. Such as tourism exhibition, tourism presentation, roadshow and build an officer branch in over 14 countries ( New York, Paris, London, Frankfurt, Moskow, Sudney, Hongkong, Mumbai, Tokyo, etc ) . Beside that, The Government also have other tourism strategy. The Dubai Shopping Festival always held every year to get shopaholic attention from all of the world. The Govermnet also create a modern island with a high technology, called Palm Island. This island, made on sea’s surface. There is a lot of modern building and sport facility in Dubai. Such as Dubai famous golf field, Dynamic Dubai Tower ( this is one of the most prestisious building in Dubai and the only one building in the world that can spinning 360° horizontally with the different speed on every floor ) , Buj Al-Arab Hotel ( this is one of the luxurious and famous hotel in Dubai because the shape of this hotel like an Arabian’s traditional boat, called dhow ).
Beside the modern tourism, Dubai also try to improve their historical tourism. There are Dubai Museum ( this place showing materials for people who live in desert ), Bastakiya Quarters ( in this place, we can find Arabian traditional house and other old buiding ), etc.
About Suistanable Tourisn Development, Dubai try to balancing their construction like Palm Island within ecological system that live in the sea. The Government also concern to make the law about economical tourism, and also the tourism law. Both of the law made for the same conclusion, that is try to create Dubai became a world’s choice for tourism. Cultural Suistanability and Local suistanability also have a portion to improve.

Vietnam
Talking about Vietnam, we also thougth about their historical war with Amerika, a long time ago. But, Vietnam also have a lot of tourism place. Such as Ha Long Bay ( this is an uniquely and iconic bay, surrounded by 1969 islands and also became one of the World Heritega Site from UNESCO ), Hanoi ( in this city, we can find the professional villages that made Vietnam’s souvenir, such as Bat Trang pottery village, Ngu Xa broze village, dan Yen Thai glossy silk ), Nha’ Trang City ( this city known as a coastal city ) etc. Vietnam also have an uniquely tourism, that is the historical war tourism and float market. Cu Chi’s Tunnel became one of the famous historical war tourism. In this tunnel, tourist can look at a diorama that showing how is the condition and situation during the legendary war. We also can find an uniquely float market in Saigon River. This is one of the iconic tourism in Vietnam.
The Government pay much attention in tourism bussiness. Vietnam have VNAT ( Vietnam National Administration of Tourism ). This organization’s task are making tourism international program, public tourism’s service and also have a power to legimitate a VNAT’s tourism corporate. Vietnam have a pro poor tourism too. With this program, The government trying to realize the tourism law, that gave attention in suistnable tourism development too. This program try to alocated the profit from tourism to the poor.

Over the last year, Holchim Vietnam, the International Crane Foundation and the International Finance Corporation (the 'project partners') and the Kien Giang People's Committee have collaborated with national scientific institutions to map land types and land use on the Ha Tien Plain. The work is a first step towards the goal of sustainable development on the Plain — development that generates economic growth and security while safeguarding the ecological and cultural features, which contribute so much to the area's richness .
Comparing
Similiarity :
1. Dubai and Vietnam have a tourism department to help them controlling tourism industry
2. Dubai and Vietnam made a speciality program to get tourist’s attention all over the world. Dubai have The Dubai Desert Classic and The Dubai Shopping Festival. Vietnam have Pro Poor Program.
3. Dubai and Vietnam also trying to realize the tourism law for making a better tourism industry
4. Dubai and Vietnam pay much attention on a historical and local suistanability
Difference :
1. There is a difference reason why Dubai and Vietnam became a known tourism object. Dubai have a fee individual duty and friendly services with tourist. But Vietnam have a great security and also law enforcement.
2. Dubai more consist with the local and economical suitanability ( because as we know, Dubai build a lot of modern building and gave their society work in their tourism object ), but Vietnam more consist with the ecological and historical suistanability ( because we know that Vietnam try to improve their historical tourism legendary and nature tourism )
3. In the ecological aspect, Dubai have been protest because they make Palm Island. Some of organization thougt that this program can destroyed sea’s natural life. Although the government said that this program uses a hightech technology so it cant destroyed sea’s natural life, but we don’t know exactly the truth.
